PMS 2.0 063 – Magic Johnson

On today’s show, Pat talks a little more about the massive fine that Zito is responsible for, and The Pub makes a PSA for all it’s members asking for help paying the fine (shirts available at with promo code “FreeZito”.) Pat and the guys also cover the whole MyBookie situation, and discuss Magic Johnson stepping down as President of Basketball Operations for the Lakers, and why he chose to do so on the same night that Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade retired. Pat also makes a big announcement regarding his upcoming golf outing, and answers a couple questions from Instagram for another edition of #ChatWithPat. Also joining the show is friend of the program, co-host of That’s Hockey Talk, and starting center for the Arizona Cardinals, AQ Shipley. They dive deep into the NHL playoffs and what AQ thinks about being in the podcast game. He also discusses what he expects from the Arizona Cardinals this year and how Kliff Kingsbury has been in the locker room so far, what it’s like being a dad, whether or not NFL players have the responsibility of getting their eventual replacements ready to play, and what he’s been doing to keep himself busy while waiting for the NFL season to start (1:00:06-1:39:07). Today is a fun one. Come and laugh with us, cheers.

The Honeymoon Is Over In L.A. and Lebron Only Has Himself To Blame

Ill start by saying I AM NOT a Lebron hater. I didn’t hate when he went to Miami, I just thought the way he did it was awful. When he went back to Cleveland and got them a title he did the right thing. Leaving Cleveland again was for some reason inevitable for him. He had to go to Los Angeles, he put himself in the position he’s in. He knew this team was young and had a lot to learn but I’m guessing he thought he was gonna ship half of them out to get another superstar. Well it hasn’t worked out that way and now these young players who have been in the league for 1-3 years are broken. They have no confidence anymore because the player who’s supposed to be the “best player in the world” tried to trade every single one of them for a shot at Anthony Davis.

The Lakers are crumbling and instead of calling out every other player its time for Lebron to take some blame for once in his career PLEASE. This is the team you went to, you knew what you were getting with this roster and you left a very comfortable Eastern Conference you could of reigned KING for the rest of your career at home. All he talks about is other players being distracted and they don’t know how to win, obviously the young players haven’t, but Javale Mcgee just won 2 titles with Golden State. Rajon Rondo is a winner he’s proved that time and time in his career and guys like Tyson Chandler have won a title as well. This team was in fourth place in the West and spanked Golden State on Christmas day before Lebron got hurt, so whats changed?? This is the same squad with the exact same players and they are fading fast out of he playoff race.

Lebron talks about his teammates being distracted, but he’s in fact the one who’s more distracted than anybody. They lost to the Grizzlies who are 14th out of 15 in  the Western Conference and he goes to social media to pat himself on the back for a personal accomplishment. If your a free agent this offseason watching this dumpster fire in LA why would you sign there. You know as soon as things go wrong its your fault, or you can even get the Isiah Thomas treatment and just get shipped out of town before you have a chance to prove yourself. Lebron has three years left on his contract in LA so at some point he will have to look himself in the mirror and realize this is the team he has. This is the team he joined with these young kids, so why not help them grow like you were in the first half of the season. When things go south it will never be Lebron’s fault, he has a suitcase full of excuses we all know that by now. It could be a long few years in LA if things continue to go the way they are for Lebron. For now lets all just put the GOAT conversation to rest, if there was ever a debate its over now. MJ forever. Lets have a Tuesday y’all.

PMS 2.0 038 – Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk, & Kris Jenner

On today’s show, Pat and the guys do a DEEP dive into the Divisional Round of the playoffs and cover everything else that happened in the NFL over the weekend. They chat about the Patriots not being dead, the Chiefs dominating victory over the Colts, the Rams looking like one of the best teams in the NFL, and Nick Foles seeing his magic run out. Gorms also talks a bit about his weekend going to the Colts/Chiefs game on the private jet with Jim Irsay. Later, friend of the show, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk calls in for a nice hearty football discussion. They bounce around from the playoffs, his schedule now that the football season is almost over, and what he thinks about all the different coaching changes thus far. The room also fires several questions at Florio ranging from AB potentially playing in San Francisco or somewhere else, if the Packers made a good decision in Matt LaFleur, how he settled on Pro Football Talk, and who he thinks will win the Super Bowl (1:26:34-2:10:13). Pat also debuts a new segment, “Let’s Get Topical,” as he discusses who might be out to get The Rock after a UK magazine misquoted him in an interview, and the conspiracy behind the Instagram egg that took over Kylie Jenner for the most liked picture on the app. It’s a really good one. Come and laugh with us, cheers.

NFL Picks For The Weekend

Four games this weekend and every one is going to be a barn burner this weekend. Dogs all over the place with a few sneaky second half bets to blow the doors off this Divisional Weekend.

Chargers @ Patriots is set at 5 right now. I think this is a 3 point game so even a Patriots -5 won’t be a safe call. One of the props I may take for this game is Chargers to lead at half and Patriots to win the game. The Patriots love doing the old ‘lose first half then come back in the second half’ move in the playoffs. As good as the Chargers are, I think Philly makes one too  many mistakes in the cold and the Patriots squeeze out a last second field goal to win. This would give us home field for the AFC championship as well.

That’s right, I hate the Colts but I’m all over them. Colts are +5.5 against the Chiefs in Kansas City and I like the Colts straight up in this one as well. The Chiefs don’t have a defense and the Colts are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. First half Colts I like a lot which I’ll put with the full game spread too. If they get a lead, it’s going to be hard for the Chiefs to get into a rhythm because of how great the Colts run game is. They can chew clock with the best of them and because of this, Mahomes might have a little trouble finding a rhythm early. Very excited for the Frank vs Andy battle and hoping for a good one in KC.

Dallas is +7 against the Rams and this team isn’t like the other Cowboys teams we’ve seen in the past. They have a defense this year, something Dallas has never seemed to have in my recent memory. I’m taking Rams team over in this one cause I don’t know if the Cowboys secondary is good enough to hang with the McVay brain who’s cooking up touchdown play after touchdown play. That’s why I’m going money line Cowboys with the Rams team over cause I don’t see this being a 7 point game. Cowboys squeeze a win or it’s a blowout. Let’s hope the Cowboys squeeze it out and we all make a decent chunk of change.

And your NFC champion, the New Orleans Saints. Saints are -8 and I think they end up winning by a couple scores. Foles has been surgical since February 2018 so it’s tough to go against Sir Nick. However, nobody has won in the Superdome and I don’t think the Eagles are going to be the team to do it this year. After Sean Payton wheels out the trophy AND everyones Super Bowl bonus, it’s tough that team doesn’t at least run through the first one they see. Rams vs Saints would be a shootout for the ages but I think the Saints are representing the NFC this year. Naturally, the Patriots represent the AFC.

Recap: Patriots ML, Cowboys ML, Rams team over, Saints -8, Colts +5.5. That’s what I got this weekend but more than anything let’s hope for some great games. Go Pats.

PMS 2.0 037 – The Ungettable Interview, T.Y. Hilton, & AQ Shipley

On today’s show, Pat heads to the Indianapolis Colts’ Complex for a couple of incredible interviews before this weekend’s game against the Chiefs. First, newly minted All-Pro offensive lineman, the 6th overall pick, and one of the most dominant players in football right now, Quenton Nelson joins the show for an exclusive interview. Next, 4X Pro Bowler, one of the best WR’s in the NFL, friend of the show, T.Y. Hilton, joins Pat to talk about the entire clown mask situation with Jonathan Joseph and how he thinks the team performed against the Texans. They also look ahead to the Chiefs game, and chat a little about his relationship with Frank Reich and Andrew Luck, and shoot some craps (12:04-25:59). The guys also cover everything around the NFL as they look ahead to this weekend’s playoff games, recap the National Championship game, and welcome in AQ Shipley to chat about Bruce Arians heading to Tampa Bay and some thoughts on his new Head Coach, Kliff Kingsbury (53:19-1:04:57). Pat and the guys also get into a couple deep science issues including the discovery of the plague in Wyoming, Todd has a theory for why the water levels are rising, and they dive back into the oceans vs. space argument. They also chat a little bit about Mason Ramsey, discuss what’s going on in the weight loss competition and how miserable everyone feels, and end the show by having another huge giveaway. It’s a good one, come and laugh with us. Cheers.

Wild Card Weekend Saturday Picks

What an incredible weekend we have in front of us. This weekend is second only to the divisional round. Cherish every game that we have left. The playoffs are amazing but they are so bittersweet. We have only 11 NFL games left before we have to take on the worst month of the year without football (February). The best way to go into the offseason is with some cash in your pockets so lets see who’s going to do that for you tomorrow.

  1. Texans vs Colts: Texans Opened 3 point favorite, Currently 1. O/U 48.5

Lets get into the trends first. These teams split during the regular season with both games being decided by 3 points so there is a great chance this is going to be a close game. That immediately makes me want to tease the Colts up to +7. Andrew Luck has been great against the AFC South going 20-8-3 ATS , The Colts are 3-1 ATS in its last four against the Texans. The one that they didn’t cover was the first game this season where they said they did not want to tie the game. The Texans have not been great against winning teams, they are 1-5 ATS against them but are also 8-2 ATS after a win this year and 6-2 as a home favorite. On the other hand the Colts are 2-3 ATS as away dogs. 2 of those losses however were during their 1-5 SU start. Now that we got all of that out of the way here are my thoughts.

I like the Colts. Houston gave up 60 sacks for the first time since 2006. 60 sacks is absurd. Houstons o-line is a fucking dumpster fire. Sure they have incredible talent with Watson and Hopkins but they need time to make plays. On the other hand Luck has been sacked 9 times in their last 12 games. Fucking 9. The Texans have Watt & Clowney so this will be an awesome part of the game to watch but if they can’t get pressure the Texans secondary is awful. Luck has thrown for 464 and 400 yards against the Texans this season. I like the Colts and the Point or if you got it earlier in the week the points.

Now to the late game.

2. Cowboys vs Seahawks: Dallas opened 3 point favorite, now 1.5; O/U 43.5

Is this game in primetime? Yup. Russell Wilson is 22-7-3 ATS when starting a game at 6 p.m. ET or later, covering by 7.8 points per game. That’s a nice little stat going into tomorrow’s game…here’s a better one. As a home favorite, Jason Garrett is 17-32-1 and 0-2 ATS in the playoffs. The man crumbles when he is supposed to win. Now that Marvin Lewis is gone Jason Garrett is the new mediocre coach that should’ve been let go a while ago. Pete Carroll > Garrett & Wilson > Prescott. The matchup that will be fun to watch is Bobby Wagner vs Zeke. I can see Zeke easily getting 30+ touches. That is the strength of Seattle Defense. If Dallas has a chance they have to take advantage of Seattle’s weaker secondary but I don’t know if Dak has the ability to do that. I am rolling with Seattle and the points in this one plus I kinda like the under.

To Recap: LOVE THE DOGS. I have the Colts +1/+3 and the Seahawks +1.5/+3. I’m also going to do a 6 point teaser with both of them. Lastly, under 43.5 in the Dallas & Seattle Game.

Good Luck to all. If you want to follow all of our gambling picks plus have access to betting insights, articles, and professional picks sign up here with The Action Network.

PMS 2.0 035 – Hot Topic Thursday

On today’s show, Pat and the guys cover a vast range of topics. They discuss whether or not they think Urban Meyer will coach again and how the cult’s of college football teams impact a coach’s legacy, and get into the feedback Pat was given after calling his first NFL game and if he thinks he’ll get another chance to do so and in what capacity and where. The guys also discuss the first few days of the weight loss challenge and how the participants are battling through it, dive into a little movie talk ranging from Kevin Costner’s athletic skills, to Avatar, to Goodfellas, which results in a conversation about the current state of the mafia, and if they still operate. They also cover all the drama going on in Pittsburgh with the Steelers and talk about a couple of the potential landing spots for AB if he is to get traded, chat about the NFL playoff games this weekend and who they’re leaning towards, get into a little bit of a fast food discussion, and question where the phrase “bless you,” came from and if it should be extended to other things as well. It’s a hilarious one. Come and laugh with us, cheers.

NFL playoff picture is WILD

Well if your mind wasn’t already blown by the NFL this year, this weekend certainly did that for you. The Rams and Chiefs who we all thought were locks to be in the Super Bowl this year after their amazing Monday nighter, both lost at home on the weekend. The Patriots lost consecutive games in December for the first time since 2002 and now have 5 losses on the road this season.

Teams that we thought were heating up heading into the playoffs laid absolute eggs. The Seahawks lost in San Fran, the Cowboys got shutout in Indy and i would throw my Dolphins in the mix as well but i think our miracles ran out last weekend.

Then there’s the teams everyone thought was dead that turned things around. Lets start with BIG DICK NICK and the Eagles, am i crazy to say the Eagles might be a better team with him at the helm. I am by no means saying he’s better than Wentz, but for whatever reason that team just looks better with him calling the plays. We also have the Steelers who were trending in the wrong direction, lost three in a row and have always had trouble with the Pats. Mike Tomlin had a 2-7 record heading into yesterday against the Patriots and it felt like he might of finally been on the hot seat. The Boz made a huge kick at the end and the Steelers defence bent but didn’t break in what was a very exciting game.

There is a massive game in Carolina tonight that will go a long way in telling us more about home field advantage in the NFC. It’s going to be a very intriguing final 2 weeks here and i hope you guys are enjoying this crazy season as much as i am. Oh and by the way Saturday night football is absolutely beautiful.

Fade Connor Season Rolls On

1-2 in three games last night but I can’t be blamed cause everyone has been warned and you should of gone 2-1.

The one game I won was Spurs at home against the worst team in basketball so although it counts, it really doesn’t. The Trail Blazers missed covering by a point so that was the one that really kicked me in the ass. The Raptors really put a number on the Clippers so I think the Clippers will probably end up the 6/7 or 8 seed. It’s a bummer but as long as the Clippers finish in the top 16 then I don’t care, need that first round pick. Also, a note to the media, don’t ask Kawhi Leonard about Christmas.
Not many Happy Holiday’s for someone who doesn’t understand emotion

But that was last night, and unlike Kawhi Leonard, I do have memories. Memories of winning. They are few and far between, but I’m channeling those memories to get the good mojo flowing back through my veins. First and foremost, obvious bet of the night, Celtics -3.5 at the Wizards. Kyrie isn’t on the injury report but who knows if he’s playing. This spread almost feels disrespectful especially with our dominance against Washington over the years and the fact that were steaming hot right now. I would slam this spread now and assume it will be at 5 by the time were close to the game. This has turned into a little rivalry game so hopefully we get some blood too.

On top of the Celtics, were taking two other spreads and one over under tonight. Yes, the over under is an over 230. Thunder @ Pelicans OVER 233 and were going to slam it. AD will come ready to play against big Stevie Adams so expect a war down low. Gonna parlay this one with the Celtics spread cause I feel great about those, probably want to hit the opposite if I feel great about them. 76ers are at home against the Brooklyn Nets. The Sixers, like the Celtics, are just now hitting there stride and I think it continues tonight. Love 76ers -6.5, if were talking units out of 5, I’m throwing 3. Lastly, the Pistons @ Hornets game is one I like too many things in. Over 218.5 in the game I’m taking, and I like the Pistons +5. Pistons off a loss and the way these teams matchup – Charlotte heavy backcourt, Pistons heavy front court, – both teams should be scoring at will. No shot the Pistons lose by more than 5 and because I said that, don’t be surprised to see the Pistons get blown out.

Celtics -3.5, Thunder/Pelicans over 233, 76ers -6.5 and last second bonus over 223 in this game, Pistons +5 and over 218.5 in Pistons Charlotte. Good luck to everyone and may the fade season last forever.
